• Maintain gentle pressure by biting on the gauze for an hour
  • Avoid all rinsing for 24 hours, and you may use warm salt water or mild antiseptic rinses after 24 hours if prescribed
  • Some discomfort or pain is normal after surgery. Analgesic tablets must be taken as prescribed, if there is severe pain you can call your dentist
  • Do not brush your teeth for the first 8 hours, after that you may brush your teeth and avoiding the area of the surgery for the first day
  • Eat normal regular meals as soon as you are able after the surgery. Cold, soft diet is recommended in the first 24 hours such as yogurt. It is also important to drink plenty of fluids
  • DO NOT SMOKE for 24 hours
  • DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL for 24 hours
  • Do not spit, suck through a straw
  • Avoid excessive activities, do not drive or operate anything
  • To prevent swelling apply an ice pack or cold towel on your face or cheek near the surgical area during the first 12 hours, applying it alternately for 20 minutes and then 10 minutes off
